Let’s Organize together! Real organization for real people.
Hello, my name is Flávia Cruz, and I am the owner of The Organized Spaces by Flávia.
I’ve always been passionate about organization and decoration, but over time, I realized that the world of organization goes far beyond the Instagram-perfect photos we often see.
When working with clients, it’s crucial to truly understand what they want and need. It’s not just about making everything look pretty (although we love doing that!). I adore beautiful boxes, baskets, labels, and everything in the world of organization. I could spend hours browsing through stores that sell these items.
But my real focus is functional organization—creating systems that meet my clients’ needs, simplify their lives, and make it easier for them to maintain order. My role is to be a facilitator, helping solve their problems in a way that works for them.
Tips for Real-Life Organization
1. Embrace Minimalism (It’s Not About Owning Less)
Minimalism doesn’t mean having very few items; it means keeping what you truly use, love, and need. You can be minimalist and have fancy bags. Please don’t get confused.
Life moves fast, and the more items we own, the more time we spend managing them—organizing, cleaning, and maintaining them. Let go of what doesn’t serve you and keep only what truly matters.
I know that it’s hard. It was for me too. But then started to be natural, an easy to keep in the right place :)
2. Do What Makes Sense for You
Organization isn’t one-size-fits-all. For example, if you always lose your house keys, install a hook near the door to create a habit of putting them in the same place every time.
Our minds thrive on habits, so create simple systems that work for your routine. Who wants to look all the time for the keys?
3. Use What You Already Have
You don’t need to buy a bunch of new organizers to get started. Often, you can repurpose what you already have at home. One of the joys of organizing is finding creative ways to use what you own while making your space more functional.
4. The 30-Minute Rule
To maintain order and cleanliness, I follow the 30-minute rule. Every day, I dedicate at least 30 minutes to cleaning or organizing something.
This small daily habit prevents the need for a full-day cleaning marathon on weekends. It keeps your home manageable and stress-free.
5. Let Go of Perfection
Forget about the perfect house or the flawless Instagram-worthy organization. Having an organized home is about creating peace, improving creativity, and making daily life more enjoyable.
A functional space doesn’t have to be perfect—it just needs to work for you.
